PETIT JEAN MOUNTAIN, Ark. (March 26, 2010) — David Davies has announced his resignation as executive director of Winthrop Rockefeller Institute effective April 20. Davies has served in this role since the Institute was founded in 2005.
“During the last five years, we have accomplished a great deal,” Davies said. “Those things that we have accomplished have been because of employees’ commitment to excellence, their willingness to try something new, and their drive to create an effective organization that will serve the state of Arkansas and extend the legacy of Winthrop Rockefeller.
“These years have been exhilarating for me, as we have started an organization from scratch and totally rebuilt and expanded facilities – award-winning facilities that all of us can be proud of and programs that are just the beginning of what will be great.”
Davies said that the Rockefeller Institute must focus on the future. He thanked its board of directors for their support along with University of Arkansas System president Dr. B. Alan Sugg. Winthrop Rockefeller Institute is part of the University of Arkansas System.
Dr. Milo Shult, chair of the Institute’s board of directors and vice president for agriculture at the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture expressed his appreciation of Davies’ work and dedication to the Rockefeller Institute.
In 2005, the University of Arkansas System established Winthrop Rockefeller Institute with a grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Charitable Trust. By integrating the resources and expertise of a statewide university system with the legacy and ideas of Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller, this educational institute and conference center creates an atmosphere where collaboration and change can thrive.
