A Few Facts About the Film Forum

When and Where:

  • 3 p.m. Thursday through 3 p.m. Sunday, March 21st-24th, 2013
  • The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, atop Petit Jean Mountain, approximately one hour from Little Rock

  • Actors, directors, producers, technicians, and students, who will have a rare chance to hone their craft in intensive workshops with film-industry insiders
  • Film enthusiasts who will venture behind the scenes enlightening discussions, interviews,performances, and have the opportunity to observe the workshops

Who’s Starring in the Forum? These are just a few names...

  • Hollywood director Howard Deutch, best known for directing Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of
    Wonderful
    , two of the late John Hughes’s most beloved screenplays, in addition to other studio films and countless television shows
  • Screenwriter and Sundance faculty member Tom Schulman, whose debut film, Dead Poets
    Society
    , won the Oscar for best screenplay in 1990
  • Pioneering television director and Sundance faculty member Joan Darling, known for her work on hit shows such as M*A*S*H, Mary Tyler Moore, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman
  • Robert Walden, three-time Emmy nominee, acting professor, award-winning theater director, and star of four television series and countless films
  • Legendary Hollywood acting coach Sandra Seacat, who has worked with Academy, Golden Globe, and Emmy award–winning performers like Jessica Lange, Mickey Rourke, and Laura Dern

What’s Showing at the Forum?

  • Intensive, sequential workshops in acting, directing, screenwriting, and the power of imagination
  • Panel discussions and one-on-one interviews on the business of film, comedic acting, film scoring, film criticism, and more
  • A performance from special guest Laurence Luckinbill with his award-winning solo portrayals of legendary Americans Lyndon Johnson, Theodore Roosevelt, Clarence Darrow, and Ernest Hemingway
  • Attendees will also enjoy a grand finale in which our faculty directs and coaches actors as they present a showcase of scenes and monologues. Get a rare behind-the-scenes look at how actors hone their craft with professional direction
